Why go

Why visit Plitvice Lakes?

Plitvice Lakes is one of Croatia’s best-known natural sights. It works well as a full day in a longer route between Zagreb and the coast, or as an overnight stop if you want a slower visit.

Without a car

Getting there without a car

You can reach the Plitvice area by intercity bus from Zagreb and some coastal cities. Services change by date and season, so check your exact journey before you build the rest of the day around it.

Search Arriva Croatia, FlixBus or GetByBus. For park entry, current opening information and official tickets, use the Plitvice Lakes National Park website.

Choose your entrance and transport plan before travel. If your onward bus is important, leave a comfortable time buffer.

Visiting in winter

Plitvice Lakes in winter

Plitvice can be beautiful in winter, but weather changes what is open. The park says the Lower Lakes are usually open during winter, while the Upper Lakes depend on conditions. Some transport inside the park can also change. Check the official park update before travel and wear warm, grippy footwear.
