Island stop

Hvar

A simple island stay for sea views, old streets and passenger ferry connections along the coast.

Why go

Why visit Hvar?

Hvar Town is an easy first island stop because the historic center, harbor and many places to stay are close together. It works best if you want a few relaxed days between larger coastal cities.

Without a car

Getting there without a car

Hvar Town has no road connection to the mainland. Most visitors without a car arrive by passenger ferry or catamaran.

Check your exact date with Jadrolinija and TP Line. Some routes are seasonal, and not every ferry stops in Hvar Town.

If your ferry uses another port on Hvar island, check the local transfer before booking. Do not assume every Hvar ferry arrives in the same place.

Keep it practical

Where to stay

Choose an area that keeps your daily travel simple.

Hvar Town center

Best for a first stay without a car. You can walk to the harbor, restaurants and main sights.

Križna Luka

A quieter area within walking distance of the center and close to small beaches.

Near Pokonji Dol

Good if beach time matters more than being right beside the main square. Expect more walking.

Visiting in winter

Hvar in winter

Hvar is much quieter in winter. It can be peaceful and beautiful, but many seasonal hotels, restaurants, beach businesses and tours may be closed. Ferry choices are also more limited than in summer. Stay flexible and check both transport and opening hours before you book. The Hvar Tourist Board describes winter as a quiet time on the island.
